Everyone falls in love sooner or later. But it's harder for some than others. Sometimes, love stories aren't simple or easy. Especially when your life's complicated enough to begin with.
Michael is every girl's dream come true. Except Jamie's. Tempers will rise, personalities will clash, and sparks will fly. Whether anything will be left standing afterward, nobody knows.

The following may contain some slight spoilers.
Tonie Melman
This bubbly, hyperactive, and tiny girl is one of Michael's oldest friends. She sees him as something of a personal project and he sees her as something of a nuisance. However, if you read the "Rain..." series of short stories, you will see what their relationship really is. She is determined not to join in the family business of raising horses and dreams to someday be a great architect.
Aaron Jenkins
Tonie's boyfriend and Jamie's cousin, the sole reason she and her family are living in Riverview. He's very much the big brother to JJ and is rather protective. However, he isn't as emotionally strong as he appears and tends to keep to himself.
Jennifer Harding
Mike's young aunt and his father's half sister, Jennifer is much closer to Brian and Mike than their own father. Patient, even-tempered, and understanding, she can deal with the twins' explosive personalities and can often get them to listen to reason.
Brian Harding
Mike's identical twin brother and born nearly eight hours earlier, on an entirely different day. He appears to be the exact opposite of Michael: more cheerful and outgoing, and definitely girl-crazy. He is extremely protective of his brother, and although he appears to be the dominant twin, the reverse is actually true. And while Mike feels that he has to live in Brian's shadow, Brian knows that his twin is much smarter and more talented than he is. He is an extremely gifted pianist, a fact that very few people outside of his family are aware of.
Jonathan Melman
Jamie's boyfriend and Tonie's fraternal twin brother. Jonathan is slated to be Riverview High's valedictorian and is ambitious, driven, and very...solid. He seems perfectly happy in following his mother's footesteps and managing their extensive horse ranch. He's very responsible and somewhat bookish. He and Tonie have a very typical brother-sister relationship: they yell at each other all the time.
Reggie Nielsen
Arguably Mike's best friend. Though Jamie sees him as an over-cheerful stuffed teddy bear, Reggie knows the twins better than anybody does. He is much smarter than he appears to be and is usually able to tell what Brian and Mike are thinking, which makes keeping them out of trouble a little bit easier. Quite possibly the nicest guy out of all of them.
Lucas Hathaway
Another of Mike's friends. Lucas is the quintessential pretty boy: dimples and all. Completely happy-go-lucky and somewhat absent-minded, he's a bit of a sleepyhead and appears absolutely lazy. Which he is. Still, he's eloquent enough to be Coleridge High's debate team leader and sporty enough to be on the soccer team with the twins. He's an incurable flirt.
Samantha Thompson
Jamie's best friend is the boy-crazy Sam. She can be relied upon to stop Jamie from doing rash things, like punching Mike Harding for instance. She has a huge family, with four very loud, stubborn, and - as all her friends say - utterly evil younger brothers.
Jamie Jenkins
JJ is a bit of a high-strung tomboy, though she's attempting to be more ladylike. A cross-country runner and archer, she's also the student body president, was the editor-in-chief of the school paper before handing the position to Sam, and a decent student. Jamie has a lot on her plate and very little time for boys and anything else. She and Mike get off on the wrong foot right from the start. Still, she sees rather quickly that Michael Harding isn't what everyone thinks he is. She can be a little bit naive sometimes and quick-tempered, but she handles things in a surprisingly mature way. Once she gets over the initial urge to punch things.
Michael Harding
Mike is everything Jamie might wish for in a guy: smart, athletic, and a talented artist and musician. (All Hardings are simply raised that way.) He's much more quiet than his twin brother and a bit more irritable, hard-headed, and stubborn. He seems himself as inadequate, which isn't helped by father's seeing him as a hopeless case. He has a strange knack for knowing precisely what a person is thinking, though he can be remarkably dense when it comes to what he thinks people think of him. Mike has plenty of issues and baggage and the last thing he needs is to fall for a girl who wishes he would just roll over and die. Troubled by strange dreams and lost memories, he is driven by one goal: to find the man who murdered his mother.
