Everyone falls in love sooner or later. But it's harder for some than others. Sometimes, love stories aren't simple or easy. Especially when your life's complicated enough to begin with.
Michael is every girl's dream come true. Except Jamie's. Tempers will rise, personalities will clash, and sparks will fly. Whether anything will be left standing afterward, nobody knows.

CHAPTER 1: Michael
The day was perfect, really. Except we could have been out in a hurricane and it wouldn’t have made a difference to me.
CHAPTER 2: Jamie
That was how Mike Harding officially entered my life. By chance. More accurately, by accident. More specifically, by – what I thought at the time – his immense stupidity.
CHAPTER 3: Michael
It was her eyes that got me then. Up close, they were the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. They were the most amazing shade of gray, and they seemed to switch from serene and translucent to stormy.
CHAPTER 4: Jamie
And like a pair of dominoes, we both went crashing to the floor, the contents of the bowl of half-mixed cookie dough landing on my head with a dull splat.
CHAPTER 5: Michael
It really wasn’t so simple, for every time I closed my eyes I could do nothing but wonder about those two lost weeks – that huge gap in my memory – during which my mother had disappeared from our lives forever.
CHAPTER 6: Jamie
And his eyes, a deep, dark blue, seemed to have tiny dancing flecks of green. It was the first time I’d gotten close enough to him to actually see his eyes. They took my breath away.
CHAPTER 7: Michael
Even after everything I’d done to prove them wrong, they kept on thinking that way, believing that I am what I am because of money.
CHAPTER 8: Jamie
In that instant, I realized one very important thing. Mike really wasn’t such a bad guy...
CHAPTER 9: Jamie
Every time I decided that Mike was nothing more than an ordinary jock – gorgeous, nice to look at, insensitive and completely useless – he turned around and did something completely unexpected.
CHAPTER 10: Michael
Jennifer and I lived in the upper middle class section of this particular neighborhood but the street Jamie lived on was for the upper-upper class. The only word that can be used to describe some of the houses was “mansion.” The Jenkins house wasn’t all that big, but it was still impressive.
CHAPTER 11: Jamie
He was always busy, presumably working on the gym wall or – if one chose to believe all the rumors – making out with various girls right up against the said wall. The latter only reinforced my most current opinion of him. Which was that he was a single-minded, incurable flirt who only thought about how to score with girls.
CHAPTER 12: Jamie
I couldn’t tell who it was – they were kissing far too deeply for that, and Mike’s hands were absolutely everywhere. I felt my face beginning to flame and wondered if I should clear my throat and stop them or simply run away.
CHAPTER 13: Michael
Seeing Aaron Jenkins outside the gym ready to save Jamie from me annoyed the hell out of me. For some reason, people just couldn’t bring themselves to trust me, no matter how well I behaved most of the time.
CHAPTER 14: Michael
Everything’s my fault. I’m bad luck. And you know, I even believe that now. I’m sorry I keep standing in the way of everyone’s happiness.
CHAPTER 15: Michael
It hurt me more than anything my father could have said because I cared about her more than I cared about him. Yet I couldn't stop myself from hurting her, even though doing so also caused me great pain.
