I stand before a long and open road,
nothing else is in sight
except the tall trees and the bushes
that stand along the sides.
From these trees comes the summer breeze,
a breeze that cries out to me
as I walk this long and open road
that leads me out to sea.
A vast and wide open sea
where I drift on and on
nothing around me but bright soft waves,
golden in the sun
Then I head back to shore
as before and always solitary
and feel a presence somewhere around
and look back behind me
But all I see are footprints
sparkling in the sun
I look back even further
and see what I have done.
And see the trees that had stood over me
in the long, open road
and hear the breeze cry out to me
as it did before.
So I looked back at the vast, open sea
and watched the setting sun
and understanding dawned on me
and then I could walk on.
Now I know the trees stood by me
and the breeze had cried for me
and the waves had shone in greeting
in the vast and open sea.
For we close and open doors
and days will always end
but the sun comes up tomorrow
THANK YOU.
