Long ago, a war among the angels tore heaven and earth apart. After years of ceaseless fighting, the Gods stepped in and time turned back to a peaceful course. But then a Queen, descended from fallen angels, rose into power and conquered half the world in a vengeful bloodbath, leaving chaos in her wake.
Now, the Kalcene Queen is poised to strike, and dark beasts are venturing out of the kingdom of Malcor once again. Another great war seems inevitable and all that stands in its way are a runaway priestess, a seer, and their raggedly assorted group.

CHAPTERS: 8 NOTES | CAST | RETURN
The following may contain some slight spoilers.
Falcon : The Thief [Human]
A thief from Derin, Falcon has never once gone beyond the city walls. But when Valkan the Cutthroat betrays the Guild to the Derin police, Falcon is forced to flee and gets caught in the adventure of a lifetime when she meets Tarahn, Daimira, and Lake.
Xandra : The Princess [Human]
Though well-read and intelligent, Xandra is like almost every other princess: spoiled. Her brother, Ayther, is the King of Zarral. When he allies his country with Forgja, Xandra becomes a bargaining chip - and gets given away to the prince of Forgja to be his bride! Xandra attempts to run away only to almost be captured by Malcor slavers and saved by Daimira and her friends.
Ayther : The King [Human]
Relentless and courageous, Ayther bears the soul of a true king. Unfortunately, he is overly impulsive and sensitive. He has also fallen for Daimira. Hard. Though he is a rather good swordsman and very intelligent, he lacks the common sense that every commoner is born with (perhaps because of his sheltered upbringing). He intensely dislikes Lake.
Sirene : The Healer [Human]
One of the only two survivors of the invasion of Alkora in Forgja, Sirene's appearance greatly disturbs both Lake and Daimira. The daughter and apprentice of a physician, she is skilled at healing. She bears great resemblance to another healer - one from Lake's shrouded past. Quiet and unassuming most of the time, she has a big heart and solid practicality.
Kremnos : The Guardian [Remnant]
Daimira's protector, Kremnos is also the head of the Kalborne Honor Guard. His duty is to ensure the safety of the Priestesses. The High Priestess in particular. A very powerful sorcerer, it is still hard to tell where his loyalties lie. Though he is devoted to the Priestess, his devotion may be tainted by self-interest.
'Lis : The Shapeshifter [Remnant]
After her brother was believed to have been killed during the Second Great War, 'Lis was forced to join the Kalcene Queen. A hollow shell of the vibrant young girl she once was, two hundred years have worn her down into an indifferent, calculating woman. When Daimira and company set out on their mysterious task, however, 'Lis will be given a chance, as well as a choice.
Tarahn : The Machinist [Mordran]
Placing the peace between Kalcena and Mordrans in peril, The Clan Chief of the Mordrans allowed Tarahn, his daughter, to accompany the High Priestess on her journey, though rather reluctantly. Unlike her father and most of her race, however, Tarahn won't hesitate to oppose the Queen. Like most of her people, Tarahn is very skilled in working with machines, as she is part machine herself, possessing a sort of mechanical arm.
Daimira : The High Priestess [Remnant]
As the High Priestess of Kellan, Daimira is risking everything to stop the Kalcene Queen from invading the west. It is up to her and a select few to find a way to separate the Queen and Sednae and banish the White Angel forever. But the plan might go awry and plunge the world into even greater darkness than before.
The Queen : The Broken Heart [Remnant]
Once known to be fair and wise, the assassination of her husband by the country Malcor drove her to the brink of madness. In the subsequent war, she seized control of the country Assiah and its fabled Temple, where the Relics were sealed. Now bonded to the Archangel Sednae, she is out for revenge and won't stop until Malcor and all its allies fall.
Lake : The Fragmented Soul [Remnant]
Though he appears to be the weakest and most helpless of the group, prone to occasional fainting spells, the mysterious and reticent young seer is the only person with any hope of stopping the Queen. But his time is running low and his task may cause him to pay the ultimate price.
Secondary Characters
Ranick [Human]
Ayther's right-hand man and childhood friend, Ranick is far more practical than his well-meaning king.
Camron [Human]
Sirene's young brother. Also the only other person to survive the destruction of Alkora.
Kaira [Remant]
The Queen of Alandiel, Kaira is old, wise, and very very beautiful. Forced to side with Kalcena to protect her people, she can be a powerful ally - or a formidable foe.
Mirage [Remnant]
Her real name far too difficult to pronounce, she has taken on the appropriate nickname of Mirage. She is by far the best illusionist alive as well as one of Lake's oldest friends. She was a Priestess of the fallen Temple in Assiah - a survivor of the Kalcene Queen's attack.
Kellan and Aruon
Kellan and Aruon are dual aspects of a single deity. Kellan is the feminine side and Aruon the masculine. Kellan is the chief Goddess of most people in the world, and is especially worshipped by the citizens of Kalborne, Zarral, and Kalcena. Her Temples can be found everywhere except in Malcor and New Cene. According to legend, when a clan of Angels turned their backs on the Goddess and left heaven for earth and founded what is now Malcor, Kellan wept for forty days and nights. Where her tears fell sprouted giant, golden-leafed trees - the ganlaf trees found in Kalborne, Alandiel, Assiah, and the eastern edge of the Malcor woods. It is said that wherever there are ganlaf trees, there the spirit of Kellan dwells.
Aruon, on the other hand, does not have Temples or Priests. His followers are concentrated in monasteries and abbeys and live in quiet contemplation. They are warrior monks, however, and will fight upon the command of the High Priestess of Kellan. The Guardians of the Priestesses all live by the teachings of Aruon. While Kellan is the giver of life, Aruon is seen as its protector.
People also practice a form of ancestor and nature worship.
