Short Stories

Here lie my short stories: one-shots, two-parters, side-stories, back-stories, bottom-stories, etc. Some of the side-stories MAY eventually be incorporated into the main story or be rendered inappropriate by sudden plot shifts.

These works don't get as much attention as the series, and, quite often, I leave them as they are once they're done. I tend to write short stories as though they were poetry in free verse. So if I don't get the mood and the words right the first time, it would be very difficult to revise it. So if some these just plain suck, they're likely to suck until the end of time.

      ONE-SHOTS

A Summer Afternoon. The perfect time of year.
It was one of those days when you wished it would rain. Because inside your heart, the sun wasn't really shining.
The Turning Wheel. The wheels of fate turn the way they want to.
The girl coughed, glancing at the sky. She willed the rain to stop, prayed to God to let it end. The last thing she wanted was to fall ill.
The Beggar. Somewhat inspired by Grave of the Fireflies, and children begging in the street.
He runs, his arms wide open, through a field of eternal sun, to figures waiting for him, calling no name but his own.
Moon: Part One. A boy about to die by his own hands gets saved by the strangest person imagineable.
The path leading to the area he sat in now had been unused for over a decade and was so choked with weeds and bushes that nobody would even bother going there even if they had a legitimate reason for being there.

      SIDE STORIES

Matthew (Dream Weaver)
She had it tough. She had seen the sun before she was thrust into the darkness. I had grown up in the dark. (Note: This work needs editing for grammar/structure. It is STUBBORN.)
Kara (Dream Weaver)
Maybe there was a way out of this. She could tell him the truth and they could hide. It could be done, if they really wanted to.
Rain Walk (Michael/Jamie)
She looked up at the cloudy gray sky and smiled in the middle of the street, aware that everybody else was looking up at the sky more with annoyance than with pleasure.
Night Falls (Michael/Jamie)
He looked up through the window at the stars shining weakly through a thin veil of clouds. He closed his eyes. He had a long way to go. He needed to rest and maybe, for a while, forget.
Rain Dance (Michael/Jamie)
I laughed. We were just friends again. The moment had passed. And still, we danced in the rain.
Brothers (Michael/Jamie)
The veiled sky shifted, and for a brief moment, just before he lost consciousness, he saw a single star, winking down at him as if in reassurance.
